While the dart board and darts are the only necessary parts to play a game, there are other little things that can add to your enjoyment of the game. The most popular of these accessories are: |
A throwing mat. These are especially useful on hard floors. There are mats made especially for darts which are approximately 10 feet long and thirty inches wide. These have the throwing line clearly marked. They also have the added benefit of protecting your floor from darts that bounce off the board, as well as help to cushion the fall on the darts themselves. Having a mat under your feet also helps in the comfort department.

Lighting. If you chose to not get a light with your backboard or cabinet, they are available separately. Obviously you can use any sort of lamp but for looks you are better off getting one made for dart boards.
Throw lines. Your throw line can be as simple as a piece of tape on the floor. In the big leagues they use what is called a "hockey" sometimes spelled "oche," which is a piece of wood about one and half inches tall. There are commercially made throw lines available as well, usually with a company logo on them.

Scoreboards. If you chose to forego a cabinet or backing board or chose one without a scoreboard, you are going to want one. There are two choices you have: chalkboard or wipe board (dry erase). Most scoreboards have 15-20 listed on them for Cricket as well as a place to put the players names.
Dart Cases. If you tend to play away from home a lot, you are going to want a case to bring your darts with you. Cases come in a variety of sizes, as little as holding 3 darts all the way up to holding 10+ complete sets of darts. There are hard and soft cases available as well.
